Okay, here's a question: Is it normal for the game, once the mod is installed, to start up with a transparent backround (black and gray squares), have some text instead of logos when starting, start in windowed when settings are set in fullscreen, and have the text for the menus in the game disappear but still be able to see what it takes you to in some little text at the bottom when you have your cursor over one of the menus?

Confused

No, it isn't.
But it is normal if you modded it yourself (or the mod pack) and left a " opened.

No, followed installation instructions, but I did read about installing a mod with a 'fresh .scs' file. How could I do that?

i always recommend that, but if you didn't do anything else to the files then check your permissions rights to the files (user account options) and check if winrar is replacing all files correctly.

I believe it is, and I allowed the base.scs file to be placed into my Programs folder (Vista loves to freak out), so I don't think anything's really wrong with it...

I'll play around and see what I can do.

EDIT: FFFFFFF; that didn't work at all.
Could I perhaps download a base.scs file that is already modded and ready to use?

if your getting what you described and the game isn't crashing then it's in the definitions files (you must be also getting "game_name" as the window title lol - and in your documents folder you will have a "game_name" folder too so you can deleted it). try an alternative install method.
btw, check the prism3d.log (documents\hunting unlimited X folder) file and see if you're getting any error there.

Yeah, "game_name". XD

I'm seeing a lot of "18:43:31 : [zipfs] Unsupported compression method used: 8 for record #2823 - challenge/bt_dnortje.def, from file 'base.scs'." in that file.

Could the problem be that I'm copying and pasting the mod files into the base.scs file instead of dragging and dropping? *doesn't see any reason for it*

EDIT: FFFFFFFFF. I never saw "Use store as the compression method and accept to replace files. " I don't think I'm doing that. Lemme try again.

...
if your using winrar then doing that way, winrar will "mix up" the file compression. you must use no compression (compression method must be set to store).

Why SCS decided to use no compression is beyond me. Rolling Eyes Most other games will allow normal compression. At least the ones I've played with. Wink

Ok I have a problem, I don't know if it did this without your mod or not but here's what I did, I re-installed HU 2010 then I downloaded and installed your mod(2.03), everything was working fine as far as I could see, then in the "level 11's" missions, stuff started to act wierd...for one, there was a mission where it said you had to shoot wild boars, but as soon as you were in the game 2 mountian lions charged you and from behind also 3 moose....no boars?? Another one was where you had to out run a group of bears then follow some skulls...and then when I got to the place it said I should now see a trophy elk...here's the wierd thing...I could hear the elk running around but I couldn't see it? Also you could see where he was going as tracks appeared and you could hear him, he was just running in circles around you?? *"The Invisible Elk! Surprised "* Some other missions were acting a bit different too? Is it the mod? Confused

If it's in tier 11, that must be One pig deserves another. In that Warden series (there's 3 or 4 missions) most of the animals are set for attack. So you have to learn the trick of escape because you don't always have a tag for the attacking animal. So just be careful and patient and you'll figure it out. Hope you enjoy those.
