Hey all, a large majority of you have incredible trophy scores , so how do you do it? I'd like to know how you do it, do you sit and wait for the animal to come to a stand or do you walk around for hours waiting to see a trophy? So, whats your style? |

Welcome to the site, beckford
The best way is use the cover scent, mark your map with F7, find a high spot near where you spawn and look around. The animals will be within a 1000 yrds of you. Listen for the ambient sounds like the wolf, gunshots and follow the birds. I use the calls too but some folks say they do not work .. though I find they work just fine for me.
Good luck!! _________________ Support Our Troops & Keep them from Harm

I tend to use the cover scent, then run around with the horse and look for animals and hope I see them before I scare them. Then I'll just take 'em down.
I occasionally try calling animals in, but I find sitting and waiting quite tedious. xD |

i mostley walk around a little there are always some in the hood the calls work just fine you just need to know how
just use them a little dont use them over and over
and yes dropping some scent and runing to a mautain to wait is a good remedy
dont fire at the first beast you see wait for a good trophy
o yeah and walking with the horse speeds up walking 20% or something but when you see the beast with the naked eye he already heard you so use it wizeley |

You know there's Got To Be some more tricks than that, but I guess if people told 'em they wouldn't be tricks any more and everyone would get big scores
Patience & playin the game for long periods lookin for animals just isn't me, so I always just settle for low scores and loosin
The scents and calls work, but only at 100 yards or less (My Opinion). I also found that using a doe/cow call, when sneaking up on bucks/bulls, seems to make them less figety and using scent too close (less than 25 yards) seems to spook them (My Opinion). When coming up close, I always come in so the wind is in my favor and I try to come in from the front or side angle. Seems like stalking from the rear makes 'em spooked (My Opinion). If I'm stalking one, I try to break up the approach by stopping just like the animals do. It seems to help and don't move when they're lookin at ya.
Mostly I just go in, find a close high spot, put up the stand, look for animals and if there's nothin good, I leave the game and go back in again. If a big one isn't right there close enough to see (less than 400-500 yds), I don't go lookin. I just don't have any patience any more. That's why I make tourneys and don't hunt to win, cause my "style" doesn't get the big ones..... And that's why I like makin longer range hunts. I hate havin to sneak up on 'em.
If I'm runnin full out, on the horse (my favorite passtime ), I try to keep 300 yards between me and an animal to keep from spooking 'em. I also try to stop every few seconds or on every high spot to look round.
I'm done spoutin off now _________________ I Have Issues.....

I can't say enough of how much time & effort are needed on a hunters part to be successful and do it consistantly, I may not be as involved now as I was my first two years..but I did ok...Many hours were put in hunting and rehunting. To me..it seems that the reward of scores came by simply putting forth the effort.Looking for the easy way out is not reccommended,..for there is none.Be careful and look for high vantage points while observing your area....this can be done from the back of a horse..I never use anything else. Also, cover and movement needs respect as much as anything else.Don't be afraid to come back to start now and then,,you will not believe how many times I found I had overlooked animals that were close or chased in by predators.Tracks are on the ground for you to see & use, many a great kill will come from tracking.
Your choice of weapon is yours to choose from or maybe not so sometimes.due to authors picks.Proficiency with your weapons comes by way of the range....practice helps..do the intial challenges,,they reveal just how difficult it can be.
Hope this helps for it is all I can offer. There is no secret besides doing what is expected of you as a hunter. :wink:My number 1 and only secret..carry deer antlers, unless its an animal with no horns(turkey).Every animal in the game has answered the call of antlers as sure as my name is BigArn..good hunting friends. _________________ 00 |

| beckford wrote: | Hey all, a large majority of you have incredible trophy scores , so how do you do it? | It's all in the luck of the draw. The game generates the animals randomly. Sometimes you get good ones, sometimes you don't. Familiarization with the game and how it works helps. The only style depends on what type of hunt it is, tourney/heavy/distance. Some require stealth, some require a knowledge of the weapons, and some don't take any skill at all.
Maybe one day the tourney generator will get fixed so things actually happen the way they should (or as close as is possible with a game) ... but I kinda doubt it. |

My styles includes riding my horse randomly, looking for high ground. Once im on high ground i set up a tripod and look down on the lowlands and wait.
Weapons of choice:
7mm auto loader everytime! With teh second scope.
Auto Camo Shotgun this is incrediably helpful when you are after wolves
Long Bow for short range hunts. ;]
Always use a horse unless im after bears in which case i will use the atv (sometimes)
And for practice shots i use buffallo. There so slow its a guilty pleasure of mine.
But in rl i wouldn't so no barking at me ;] lol _________________ “For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack." |

I tend to hunt the same maps and it gives me a general idea where to start looking for the critters. The southwest map is the main map I look to hunt in the tourneys but I will hunt a few other maps.On the other maps is when I use the ATV and the high ground to spot the critter and put the sneak on them.I do like to set up the tree stand and call but its a time consuming form of hunting. _________________

I walk around, without the horse. When I see an animal that I want to take down, I sneek up as close as I can and BANG, drop em where he stands... The furthest shot I've made is 450 yrds. I don't use the LR or sniping tool, I figure that makes it to easy. I don't use the blinds or anything like that. As a kid when I was growing up in BC, when we hunted we would walk around and track the animals, back then we didn't have tree blinds etc, it was all done old school, and that is how I like it. After all, even the animals want to live... Using the blinds etc, seems a bit unfair. I know that people use them, and I guess that is their perogative. Peace.
